Shopify release File API
The File API, which was recently made available as of API version 2021-07, is a valuable tool for Shopify merchants. This new functionality allows merchants to easily create, update, and delete generic files and images, providing them with the ability to reuse these files across different apps.
Previously, if a merchant wanted to use a file in multiple places, they would have to upload it separately for each app, which could be time-consuming and tedious. With the File API, merchants can now upload files to the Files page in Shopify admin, and then use them in any app that supports the File API. This not only saves merchants time, but it also helps to keep their files organized and easily accessible.
In addition to being able to reuse files, the File API also provides merchants with greater control over the files they use in their store. For example, merchants can use the API to rename files, move them to different folders, and even delete them if they are no longer needed. This can be especially useful for merchants who have a large number of files and need to keep them organized.
Overall, the File API is a valuable addition to Shopify's suite of tools for merchants. It makes it easier and more efficient for merchants to manage their files, and provides them with greater control over the files they use in their store.
